Temporary and Interim Employment may appear identical at first glance, and they both express something that will not endure long, but they are employed in two completely distinct contexts. While temporary employment is just for a limited period and is not permanent, Interim Employment is only for a brief time until someone more permanent is found.
In contrast to Temporary employment, Interim Management positions have a more serious list of duties since they must be able to have an immediate and significant influence on a project or department. They are specialists in their industries and, unlike contractors, are generally called in to manage a team or project and see a task through to completion.
Many persons returning to work after a long professional hiatus are eager to take up temporary positions to brush up their knowledge, but Interim Positions are only available to highly seasoned personnel.
